If you believe in it Albo, legislate it otherwise you prove it was just lip service all along.
Here's hoping there is some genuine reflection on why it failed so we can get it right next time.
@areader and there in lays the problem and why the referendum didn't pass.
@laura__palmer I agree, there is enough merit to both sides of the conversation without the need to bring that rubbish into it. I might not trust the government on a lot of issues but I trust the AEC to run a fair vote.
The Yes camp misunderstands the No camp and their opposition to the referendum and in doing so fail to understand how to engage with it. The issues surrounding the referendum are not black and white, there are multiple reasons people oppose it.
I'm sorry, I struggle to believe that phone call was from an a actual government funded entity, the risk vs reward just doesn't add up.
Mostly likely the conversation happened as Grace relates it but that does not mean she was told the truth.
Love it
@cat That is exactly my case in point. Changing the date will not change your lack of desire to celebrate Australia Day not will it change the minds of the majority of those that already choose not to celebrate it.
@mamamia-user-739637812 I'm (mostly) against changing the date but also agree what has happened in the past to Indigenous people is horrible and should be taught better at schools and also to older Australians.
@rush I read over the weekend that more people in the US have died from school shootings in 2021 than in military activities.
That poor family, I hope they get a good resolution although it's looking doubtful
Some people forfeit their right to live in society.
@lisadavis003 because people don't know what they don't know. Without articles like this highlighting the disparity people would have no idea the disparity exists and sadly more than a few of the media entities that could publish articles like this are the same the push the disparity.
Is there anything else that can happen to you poor bastards in Melbourne?
I'm really struggling to understand why you wouldn't talk to the police in his situation.
Gladys has given up and/or been burnt out. She won't contest the next election
This is the other side of cancel culture and the "good" guys also need to be aware of the consequences of their actions and opinions.
Thankfully I live in a state that has avoided all but localised Covid lock downs and has no outbreaks in over a year. While I understand the financial toll that lack of tourism has done to the state along with the mental toll of not being able to see loved ones I would much prefer that to the overall damage to both that lockdowns and Covid cases would bring if we open our borders too soon.
@rush I saw something similar. Most of them are all pro-life until they need to wear a small piece of fabric over their face.
Put him in a tent outside the hospital to be treated by people who's only medical training is Facebook & Google.
