Once again, the problem is men and their attitudes/behaviour towards women. It’s the men who use these services that are the risk.
So why do they continue to plug away at acting when it takes several other jobs to fund life? I am passionate about dance, trained since childhood and would love to be a professional dancer, but I know it won’t give me a living wage so I treat it as hobby, not a job. It’s my adult responsibility to have a job that finds my needs. It’s not the dance industry’s responsibility.
I think there should also, therefore, be a voice of representation for other groups such as LGBTQ and Trsns people, people with disabilities, immigrants and refugees.
Excellent piece. I feel exactly the same. Not everyone has the same natural ability for sport. Those that do, because it has come with no effort, fail to realise the humiliation of trying your absolute best yet inevitably coming last. These scars followed me through high school and I ended up with an eating disorder. Participating in sporting competitions should be a choice.
@cat and a huge percentage of us do. It’s just hidden.
From my experience, I would suggest dance is very similar.
