On this week's episode of Nothing To Wear, Tina Abeysekara (of Trash to Treasured) and I chatted about how an oversized business shirt is the unsung hero wardrobe staple. Not just for work, an oversized shirt can be worn in countless ways.
The trick is to make sure they are not too fitted, so size up if needed.
In summer, over swimmers and with shorts, the shirt is a chic way to cover up, but winter is when this humble basic will do the most. Wear it tucked into jeans, wide-leg pants or a mini skirt (a huge winter trend) and finish the look off with flats or boots.
I also love a roomy business shirt with this season's maxi skirts, paired with shorts and a blazer, or open over a knit dress. Oh, and they also look very cool over leggings.
I frequently raid my local Vinnie's and Red Cross for great oversized shirts in the men's section. A classic white will always work, but stripes and shades of blue also go with everything.
